  • John Connnor

    John has dedicated nearly 25 years to the fitness industry. He began his career on the gym floor of a commercial facility and quickly transitioned into personal training. Over the years, John has traveled extensively, gaining insights from leading experts in high performance. In the summers of 2004 and 2005, he interned at an elite athlete center in Phoenix Arizona, where he collaborated with NFL, NHL, and Olympic athletes.

    In 2008, John co-founded his training facility with business partner Eoin Lacey. Shortly thereafter, he expanded his expertise to include training Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) athletes and boxers. In the realm of MMA, he has successfully trained several Cage Warriors world champions and a UFC champion. His accomplishments in boxing include training multiple world champions across various weight classes, including a unified champion.

    After several years working with combat athletes, John pursued a Master's degree in Exercise and Nutrition Sciences. He later advanced his studies by enrolling in a PhD program at Dublin City

    University, focusing on weight cutting, has published several research studies on the efficacy of hot baths for rapid weight loss.To deepen his understanding of the demands of grappling sports, John began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, recently earning his black belt under world champion Hugo Borim.

  • Stephen Ward

    Master’s Degree in Nutrition & Exercise Science | Personal Trainer & Nutritionist With over 25 years of experience in personal training, nutrition, and health coaching, StephenWard is a seasoned professional dedicated to helping individuals and organizations achieve their wellness goals. Holding a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Exercise Science from the University of Chester, Stephen combines evidence-based strategies with practical solutions to deliver exceptional results.

    As a director of the Irish Strength Institute since 2011, Stephen has been instrumental in managing and expanding the company’s operations, which now span three Dublin locations. The institute specialises in personal training, corporate wellness programs, and gym management, catering to a diverse clientele that includes business professionals, sports enthusiasts, and individuals seeking to optimize their health and performance.

    Stephen’s expertise extends to corporate wellness, where he designs and implements programs aimed at improving employee health, productivity, and resilience. He has also played a key role in mentoring fitness professionals and managing high-performance gym facilities, ensuring a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

    A passionate educator and speaker, Stephen has delivered talks on a range of topics, including men’s health, mental health, and youth athletic development. His philosophy of “walking the walk and talking the talk” ensures that his coaching approach is both relatable and effective.

    Outside of work, Stephen is a dedicated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, achieving this milestone in 2019, and a proud father of four boys.

  • Luke Cadwell

    Personal Trainer

    Luke has been in the health and fitness industry for over five years and joined the ISI team in 2014. He takes a scientific approach to training and nutrition which is tailored to the clients’ goals.  This approach to nutrition helps his clients understand how easy it can be to reach their goals with the right information.

    He has worked with athletes in Mixed Martial Arts, Powerlifting, Basketball, GAA and Soccer.  He has experience working with a wide variety of clientele and successfully helps them to achieve their goals such as fat loss, muscle gain and general strength and fitness

  • Michael Finglas  

    Personal Trainer

    Mick has been working in the fitness industry since 2004.  During this time, he has helped multiple clients reach their health, fitness, and transformation goals.  He achieves this success by encouraging consistency, providing motivation, and working with each client as individuals.  He has a ‘practice what you preach’ attitude, and a passion that inspires clients to achieve their personal goals.

  • Emer McGlade

    Personal Trainer

    Emer has been teaching & coaching in the area of womens health for over 23 years. A former yoga & pilates instructor, Hypnobirthing teacher & Doula, she has worked alongside women through the transformational life changes of pregnancy, birth, parenting & returning to fitness postpartum. Emer is a mum of 4 boys herself, and has an understanding & awareness of the many challenges related to health & fitness that parents are facing when it comes to exercise & nutrition goals.

    Emer is an ITEC qualified Personal trainer & Girls Gone Strong Certified Women’s Coach. She has a special interest in women’s health- from pre & postnatal fitness all the way to life after menopause with the goal of helping women feel strong, confident & thriving in mid-life & beyond.

    As a coach & trainer, Emer has a holistic view on health & fitness- promoting a healthy body positive relationship, and a healthy relationship to food with no extreme restrictions or diet plans.
